About Us

           Since the founding of the Afro-American Society it has been our mission of “Uniting Students to Create Racial Harmony”. The Canisius College Afro-American Society realizes the need to preserve, promote and uphold our vast African heritage. It is our pledge at Canisius College to work toward the attainment of the highest and fullest educational experiences for our fellow members and ourselves. We recognize that the contributions of those who came before us and dedicate ourselves to continuing their work through means of cultural, social, political and academic expression. The Canisius College Afro American Society will be the primary means through which we achieve our desired goals.

            We have dedicated ourselves to maintaining a political and social voice for communities of African Diaspora at Canisius College, promoting cultural, educational and public awareness, the enhancement of relationships and understandings among all students, faculty and staff, to strive to unify diverse members of the ever changing, ever expanding Canisius community, to provide peer support, promote self determination and discipline, participate in community service activities and the development as leaders of tomorrow.
