The American Chemical Society (ACS) was founded in 1876 and is the world's largest scientific society. The ACS represents professionals at all degree levels and in all fields of chemistry and sciences that involve chemistry. Its mission is committed to “Improving people’s lives through the transforming power of chemistry." The Canisius College Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society demonstrates the excitement of chemistry to elementary and middle school students, facilitates outside of the classroom interactions between undergraduate students and the faculty of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and helps students explore potential careers in chemistry.
