OVERVIEW:
Math 112 is the second installment of the Canisius calculus sequence. Here, we develop further the main ideas/techniques of integral calculus begun in Math 111. The second half of the semester is devoted to infinite sequences and series. The topics include: Applications of the Definite Integral: Area, Volume, Average value, Arc length, Area of a surface of revolution; Techniques of integration (Substitution, Integration by parts, Partial fractions, Trigonometric integrals); Approximate integrals; Improper integrals; Applications to other sciences; Sequences and Series; Tests for convergence; Power series and Taylor/Maclaurin series; Parametric curves; Polar coordinate system.
