While walking on a road that went up a mountain side we heard faint squeaks a short distance away.  Upon closer inspection, we realized the squeaks belonged to a Pika!  The squeaking little mammal was running through the snow, leaving tiny little footprints behind him.  This was an incredible experience because these animals only live at these high altitudes.  This was our once in a lifetime opportunity to be at these elevations with a breathtaking view of the mountains and to see an animal most people only read about.
