SOME INTERESTING HISTORY SITES ON THE WEB. |
PROBABLY THE BEST PLACE TO START IS: Scholars'Guide to WWW where Richard Jensen, an historian, has gathered together a large collection of sites that would be of interest to scholars of all persuation; although, given his background, he seems to favor history.
Tennesee Tech History Department has put together a site that
would appeal especially to undergraduate students in history,
but there are items there for everyone:
A good place for a beginner to start is something called The History Guide, which starts you out with some basic information and advice but then quickly provides you with some very interesting primary and secondary materials available on line.
For medieval sources try The Labyrinth
This site is called History Web Site Directory It is literally world-wide and will link you to places that you normally would not find.
For a world wide list of history journals see History
Journals Guide.
Created in conjunction with History Reviews On-Line Reviews is This is a remarkable collection of fascinating sites ranging over much of French history and beyond.
EuroDocs is a rich and varied source collection.
An outstanding source collection for Women's history is Women and Social Movements in the United States, 1830-1930 developed by members of the history department at SUNY Binghamton
For those of you who are visually oriented try Images from History
I would also recommend something called "Internet Modern History Sourcebook" which is just packed with all manner of materials.
Finally let me recommend a collection of 19th century American sources (mostly articles from popular journals) available under the title of Making of America
A marvelous collection of historical maps is provided in a University of Texas collection.
