This winter is the first for our family in Buffalo, NY after moving from Newport News, VA.
The cold weather definitely comes earlier in western NY than in southeastern VA. The first snowfall was during the last week of November. The greatest accumulation (4 inches) happened on December 6, 2008. We eagerly wait to see how deep the city will be buried this season.
With the 4 inches, Joe, Caroline, and I set out on our first sledding expedition. The kids each received a saucer for their birthdays (Caroline's came a little early). Our neighbors informed us of a city park behind the Amherst, NY Middle School with a large hill that is perfect for sledding. This was the first time either of the kids had gone sledding and they loved it. Caroline was quite fearless and would yell "EXTREME" when she slid down the slope.
